Vivo X21 to Come with In-Screen Fingerprint Sensor

As the race for the first truly all-screen smartphone heats up, Vivo put all its competitors on notice by releasing its new X21 model. The phone is the first commercially-available mobile device in the Philippines to feature an in-screen fingerprint sensor, allowing it to trim its “chin” bezel to a bare minimum.

As a result, the 6.28-inch display covers almost all of the front side of the phone. Of course, the iPhoneX-inspired notch that houses the front-facing camera is still there.

So far, only Oppo’s Find X model has been able to address the notch design limitation in a practical way thanks to the introduction of a mechanical pop-up camera.

The in-screen fingerprint sensor is said to be easy to use and very responsive. Compared to planting the fingerprint sensor at the back and feeling around for it, this is definitely a user experience upgrade.

In terms of appearance, the Vivo X21 is similar to the V9. It carries some strong but not quite flagship-level specs including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 CPU, 6GB of RAM, up to 128GB of storage space and a Super AMOLED screen.
